bTV Remains the Viewers’ Number One Choice in the Height of the Spring Season

bTV News and Current Affairs Programs are Unrivalled in March As Well

bTV’s news, entertainment and fiction content offerings top the viewership chart in March, according to *GARB data. The Voice of Bulgaria is number one in the Top 50 for a second consecutive month, attracting an average of nearly 1,5 million viewers, or more than 50% of all in front of the TV screen every Sunday evening. The positive and emotional music show is the choice of young audience too, and tops the chart for the 18-34 and 18-49 age groups. The unique social TV project helping families in distress, Home Makeover, and the longest-running Bulgarian series in the modern history, Capital Hillbillies, which premiered on March 1st and 2nd, followed the success of the primetime entertainment programs launched by bTV in February and attracted the greatest number of viewers in their timeslots. Home Makeover ranks right after The Voice of Bulgaria also in the 18-34 and 18-49 TGs. Capital Hillbillies remains the most watched local fiction production since 2010 even in its 12th season, and in March it gained 66% more viewers than the new comedy series of the second most watched channel Nova (4+).

The culinary hit MasterChef Bulgaria is the choice of the public every Monday and Tuesday, gathering 62% more viewers compared to Nova’s culinary reality Hell’s Kitchen (4+). The exciting social experiment Wife Swap and The Comedians and Friends retained higher interest vs. the competition’s offerings in March too.

The local fiction phenomenon of 2018 Dear Heirs, airing every workday at 6 pm, continued to attract almost as many viewers as the PT shows. By the end of March it also increased the video views on the catchup platform btvplus.bg to 1 300 000 overall since its launch, supporting the multiplatform strategy of bTV Media Group.

As expected from the information leader and most trusted news source, bTV news and current affairs programs once again gained the attention of the greatest number of viewers in March.

bTV News at 7 pm and the weekend feature bTV Reporters remained among the 5 most watched TV programs (4+). bTV’s central newscast, with nearly 1,2 mln viewers on average, attracted a twice bigger audience than the 7 pm news of the second most watched channel Nova. bTV This Morning with Anton Hekimyan increased its share of the entire audience to 48,1%. The program attracted almost half a million viewers on average every workday in March, i.e. nearly 2,5 times more than Nova’s morning show. Among the most impactful and commented segments of This Morning was the user-oriented feature Read the Label by Bilyana Gavazova. In comparison, in March Hello Bulgaria gathered 20% of the viewers, and The Day Began – 10,5%.

In the upper section of the Top 50 chart are also the current affairs show Face to Face with Tsvetanka Rizova, and the Sunday show 120 Minutes with Svetoslav Ivanov, each attracting more than 750 000 viewers on average. The documentary feature bTV Documents is also in top 50.

Among the most watched local bTV programs in March are also Paparazzi, Slavi Show – both with its holiday edition on March 3rd and the regular evening shows, Karbovski: Second Plan, Marmalade, Wanted, Before Noon and The Unknown.

In March 37% of all Bulgarian viewers chose bTV, 20% - other channels, 18% - Nova, and 6% - BNT1.

bTV Media Group thematic channels were also preferred to the competitor’s, especially by the young audience. Nearly 12% of the viewers aged 18-34 chose the content of bTV’s thematic channels, while Nova’s niche TVs were watched by 6%.
