bTV Retains its Leadership in all Timeslots in April

bTV News and Current Affairs Programs are Unrivalled Again

bTV’s news, entertainment and fiction content offerings once again top the monthly viewership chart, according to GARB* data for April. In April 37% of all Bulgarian viewers chose bTV, 21% - other channels, 17% - Nova, and 7% - BNT1.

The Voice of Bulgaria retains its number one position for a third consecutive month, attracting nearly half of all viewers in front of the TV screen Sundays at 8 pm. In view of the success of the positive music talent show bTV announced a casting call for the next season.

In April all bTV spring primetime hits, such as Home Makeover, Comedians and Friends, Wife Swap, MasterChef Bulgaria and Capital Hillbillies again attracted the greatest number of TV fans in their timeslots, getting well ahead of the competition in terms of viewership. Capital Hillbillies remains the most watched local fiction production since 2010, while the rival series on Nova airing Friday at 9 pm is no longer within the top 50 chart.

The local fiction phenomenon of 2018 Dear Heirs, airing every workday at 6 pm, once again attracted more viewers than many primetime programs, including the most watched PT entertainment show on Nova.

By the end of April the series also increased the video views on the catchup online platform btvplus.bg to nearly 3,9 mln overall since its on-air launch.

Slavi Show, Paparazzi, and the 8 pm acquired series and movie titles on bTV continued with their traditionally strong performance last month as well.

Traditionally, bTV news and current affairs programs remain the number one choice for information in April.

bTV News at 7 pm and the weekend feature bTV Reporters are among the 10 most watched TV programs (4+). bTV’s central newscast attracted nearly half of all watching TV every day at 7 pm in April, with 133% more viewers compared to the central news of the second most watch channel. All bTV newscasts attract more viewers than Nova’s 7 pm news.

bTV This Morning with Anton Hekimyan retained its leadership in the weekday mornings with nearly 48% share of all in front of the TV screen, with 149% more than Nova’s morning show share (4+). In April This Morning attracts more viewers even compared to some of Nova’s primetime pillars.

In the upper half of the Top 50 chart are also the current affairs show Face to Face with Tzvetanka Rizova, and the Sunday show 120 Minutes with Svetoslav Ivanov. The documentary feature bTV Documents is also in the top 50.

Among the most watched local bTV programs in April were also the daytime shows Karbovski: Second Plan, Marmalade, Wanted, Before Noon, The Unknown and True Stories, attracting more viewers not only compared to their timeslot rival, but also to some of Nova’s primetime shows.

bTV Action entered the Top 50 chart in April, attracting more viewers than the second most watched channel Nova with the first semi-final clash in the UEFA Champions League. Overall, bTV Media Group thematic channels were once again preferred to the competitor’s, especially by the young audience 18-34.
