When a piece of information, disseminated on social media, can be trusted? How to differentiate a journalistic investigation from an ordered material? What is important and what is just interesting? How to recognize a trustworthy source of information? How to protect ourselves from a lie, mixed with the truth? What information is hidden in the silence of a guest on a certain topic? How to distinguish a journalistic analysis from the biased opinion?

These are only part of the questions, which the hosts, reporters, cameramen and producers of bTV’s news and current affairs programs will answer in the special online series The News from the Inside, which is now online on btvnovinite.bg on the occasion of bTV News’ 18^th birthday. The purpose of the sequence of short videos is to help the viewers and online users recognize the truth more easily in today’s information pool, heavily influenced by fake news and social media content.

„The rise of social media made the path for the truth longer and more difficult than the path to the lie. Increasingly, the word “journalism” is associated with content, which has nothing to do with the principles of the profession. How we get informed will always remain the personal responsibility of each and every one of us, but with The News from the Inside we want to help the wider audience to get better oriented in the news flow and to find the truth more easily. I believe quality journalism is becoming increasingly important for society’s health because the information we use to make decisions every day, is directly linked to our quality of life“, commented Venelin Petkov, Director News, Current Affairs ad Sports at bTV Media Group.

Starting today, November 26^th, once in two weeks on Monday, bTV’s journalists will remind the main principles of the profession through the prism of their own experience, challenges and specific examples. The topics of The News from the Inside will encompass current affairs, investigative journalism, crime news reporting, good news coverage, international news, incidents reporting, social topics coverage, breaking news coverage and many others. The series also aims at helping users, when they form their criteria, according to which they would select, analyze and use sources of information. The videos could also be useful not only the general public, but also to the next generation of Bulgarian journalists.

The News from the Inside starts with a look into the weekly current affairs show, where Svetoslav Ivanov and part of the crew of 120 Minutes are sharing their quest to the truth.
