bTV celebrates its 18th anniversary with the highest viewer recognition of its content – news, entertainment, fiction and CSR - across all bTV Media Group platforms. Recent data from *GARB about the spring TV season and a nationally representative survey confirm that bTV is the media that enjoys the viewers’ highest interest and trust in the country.

Recent findings of a survey, conducted by Market Links in April and May among viewers 18-54, prove that bTV remains the media with highest trust (47.4% vs. 27.8% for the second most watched channel Nova), the top of mind channel for almost half of the Bulgarians (45.7% vs. 33.9% for Nova), the most favourite channel (36.4% vs. 28.6% for Nova), the most frequently watched channel (40.4% vs. 28.3% for Nova) and the first choice for most of the Bulgarians (40.9% vs. 29.8% for Nova).

bTV’s Central Newscast is the prime source of information for 55% of the viewers (vs. 35% for Nova and 5% for BNT). This Morning is recognized as the leading source of serious comments and analyses by nearly half of all respondents (vs. 38% for Hello Bulgaria and 6% for The Day Begins).

bTV’s most watched current affairs shows 120 Minutes and Face to Face are singled out in Market Links’ survey as the most interesting and successful in the genre (with 23% and 18% respectively). The viewers highly appreciate also Karbovski: Second Plan (12%).

The survey confirmed that bTV is the leading source of entertainment, offering 4 out of the top 5 evaluated shows in the country - The Voice of Bulgaria, Bulgaria’s Got Talent, Home Makeover and The Farm. bTV’s fall hit the Farm, which is returning with season 4 in September, is also the most memorable TV event for 2017, according to the survey.

The Market Links results are confirmed by the latest GARB data. More than 36% of all Bulgarian viewers chose bTV this spring (Feb 18th – May 29). bTV’s primetime entertainment hits attracted the greatest number of viewers, leaving the competition far behind. bTV news and current affairs content is unrivalled again, with bTV News and bTV Reporters among the 5 most watched programs. bTV is also the leader in local fiction with its innovative series Dear Heirs and the longest-running Capital Hillbillies.

The strong bTV content gained significant success in bTV’s digital platforms as well. The video views on the free catch-up platform btvplus grew to 4,6 million since January 2018, which is 7 times more as compared to the same period last year. The users of the online news platform btvnovinite.bg, which was recently redesigned, have grown with 20% on average compared to the spring of 2017 (Gemius).

“bTV celebrates not only its unrivalled number one position on the market since its launch, but also the reign of high quality content on all platforms. Our greatest achievement is that we have stayed closest to our viewers and have retained their highest trust in the context of changed media consumption habits. We are committed to further investments in new local productions and Bulgarian series, and by the end of 2018 we will also provide an even more impressive presentation of bTV’s superior journalistic product. New technological innovations in our news studios are coming up”, commented Florian Skala, CEO of bTV Media Group.
