Seven awards for bTV in Dir.bg’s Web Report 2026 competition
For the ninth consecutive year, the news portal Dir.bg presented the awards for the Web Report 2026 competition for ethical journalism. At a gala ceremony in Sofia, the winners were announced journalists who, over the past year, demonstrated that the power of verified facts and public significance remain a journalist’s most potent tools.
Dir.bg’s initiative once again brought together Bulgaria’s leading media in support of the idea that quality journalism is more important than competition. bTV Media Group was a media partner of the initiative. Svetoslav Ivanov, journalist and host of “120 Minutes”, is a member of the competition’s jury, and Tsvetanka Rizova, host of “Face to Face”, presented one of this year’s awards.
bTV Media Group received 7 awards at this year’s Web Report. bTV News political reporter Desislava Rizova was honored in the “Video Reportage” category for the documentary “Tehran 26,” filmed with cinematographer Ivan Filchev. The film tells the story of Dana Eden, the producer of the film “Tehran,” who arrived in Athens on February 4 but was found dead in her hotel room on February 15.
In the “Technology” category, Antoan Zlatkov was awarded for “The Silent Front of War” - a film dedicated to digital technologies and the way hybrid warfare can affect the entire world.
The jury also highly commended Maria Savkova for her report on hospital-acquired infections, “Thousands of Inspections, One Report: Deadly Bacteria Overrun Hospitals, System Fails to Acknowledge the Problem,” and Stancho Stanchev for “The Gaida - A World Heritage.” In the “Sports” category, the winners were Nikoleta Madanska for “Gianlorenzo Blengini - Italian by passport, Bulgarian at heart” and Stanimira Atanasova for “Strength with One Hand.” In the “Green Pen” category, multimedia reporter Ladislav Tsvetkov received recognition for “Mission ‘Black Sea’ – Climate Change.”
