The first edition of the Forbes ESG Summit - "Leaders for Sustainable Development", gathered on one stage on February 28 leading business personalities and company leaders who are actively working towards green transformation. Within a series of presentations, lectures, discussions and interviews, participants shared their successes and examples of sustainable development and an efficient, green economy.
The financial and executive director of bTV Media Group Tonislav Popov was among the speakers in the panel discussion "Changing the environment together". The main practices on which he focuses his attention are the traditional and largest volunteer initiative in Bulgaria "Let's clean Bulgaria together", which turns 10 years old in 2022, as well as the so-called green filming. “bTV Media Group is part of the large family of CME and PPF Group. In the CEE region, CME is the first media group to develop a long-term ESG strategy and has already begun to actively implement sustainable business practices in its policy and processes - such as understanding and responsibility towards society. We've been changing the way we produce TV content for 2 years. We internationally certify our TV productions for carbon neutrality according to albert, we offer green segments in shows and web platforms, we ensure a sustainable supply chain, we change the culture of thinking in the company."
The lack of sufficient information and awareness among society and employees about what ESG is, is an extremely important challenge for companies, believes Tonislav Popov. Here comes the role of the media, and in particular bTV Media Group as a leading media group, to "help people be informed and better understand what these ESG policies mean in their daily lives and how they facilitate it." – added the group's executive director.
