The bTV News reporter Gabriela Naplatanova was awarded by the Commission for Personal Data Protection for her journalistic contribution to the promotion of citizens' rights and the protection of personal data. The prize was delivered by the chairman of the commission Ventsislav Karadzhov.
This is yet another recognition for a reporter from the bTV News team and it is deserved by Naplatanova for her contribution to the cyber security rubric of bTV News that explains the dangers for consumers on the internet. "It is a great recognition for bTV and for our attempt to use accessible language to tell about the technologies and how they can make our lives easier but also complicate it in case of unauthorized access to our personal data," Gabriela Naplatanova said upon receiving the award.
The journalist reminded that the new data protection regulation, which comes into effect in May for the whole of the European Union, is expected to make citizens more confident about their personal information, while companies and institutions that handle personal data are to become more responsible.
Gabriela Naplatanova has been part of the bTV team since the launch of the media and has continued to look for social cause stories. Her name is behind thousands of human interest stories and major journalistic projects on military topics. She is the author of the popular series of bTV Reporters for Kerbala.
