Petar Bakardjiev Won the Eksersovi Brothers Award for Contribution to Sports Journalism

Petar Bakardjiev is this year's winner of the most prestigious sports journalism award Eksersovi Brothers. The bTV reporter and sports news anchor received the "Golden Axe" statue at a ceremony at the Sports Museum at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia. The journalist dedicated the prize to the memory of the longstanding Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Sofia University Prof. Veselin Dimitrov.
"For me, this award is a mark of succession. In this profession, succession is important. The first entry is strong, but the meaning comes later. I have learned from all the people who have received this award since 2002. We work and make things happen today, because someone did something before. It's very important that you have a meaningful and important foundation. This award is for all who work in this profession and for the people who have created something, so that things can happen", were the first words of the awarded Mr. Bakardjiev after the ceremony.
Petar Bakardjiev accepted the award at the official ceremony, by last year's winner - Delyan Kyuchukov from Sega daily. The recognition takes place for the 16th consecutive year, for contribution to the development of Bulgarian sports journalism, for significant creative achievements, and for the preservation of the Bulgarian language. The prize named after two of the greatest and most worthy people in sports journalism in the twentieth century in Bulgaria, Mityo (1933-1981) and Nikola Ekserovi (1942-1999).
Petar Bakardjiev is one of the most emblematic faces of bTV. He has been part of the editorial team since the start of the television. He has covered World and European championships in volleyball and basketball. The sports journalist has won a number of awards in his career, and on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of bTV News, he was chosen as "bTV’s Sports Journalist of bTV the Decade".
