The Launch of the Spring TV Season Strengthened bTV’s Leadership in Entertainment and Fiction
bTV News and Current Affairs Shows Reached New Viewership Records
bTV’s primetime entertainment programs won the interest of the greatest number of viewers at the launch of the spring TV season, according to *GARB data. The hit shows The Voice of Bulgaria, MasterChef Bulgaria, Wife Swap, Home Makeover and the Bulgarian series Capital Hillbillies, which had the premieres of their new seasons in February and March, became the viewers’ favorites and won more viewers compared to the spring offerings of the second most watched channel.
bTV primetime shows that launched in February top the viewership chart for last month. The Voice of Bulgaria is number one in the Top 50, followed by Wife Swap, MasterChef and the Comedians and Friends in the top 10. This spring bTV strengthened its position as the number one choice for the young viewers too, with the Voice of Bulgaria, Wife Swap and MasterChef occupying the first three places in the Top 50 chart for February for the target group 18-34. The launches of the new seasons of bTV entertainment programs were preferred also by the viewers aged 18-49.
The third season of the social TV project Home Makeover, launched on March 1st, attracted more than 1,1 million viewers with its first episodes. The story of the lonely father with two daughters made a strong impression on the young audience too, winning the attention of 47,1% of all aged 18-34.
The longest running and most watched contemporary Bulgarian series Capital Hillbillies, whose season 12 launched on March 2nd, gathered 900 000 viewers with its first episode, showing the new adventures of the loved comedy personages from Izvor.
The great interest in the strong entertainment content of bTV at the start of the spring season was also reflected online, in the catch-up video platform btvplus.bg where all episodes can we watched for free up to 7 days after broadcasting. The new seasons of bTV’s primetime formats register a total of 82 202 unique video views on btvplus.bg so far.
The innovation in local fiction, delivered by bTV in January – the daily Bulgarian series Dear Heirs – continued its great performance in the spring season too, entering the top 10 of the February chart. More than 850 000 viewers watch every episode of the series on average, which is nearly 38% of all in front of the TV screen at 6 pm from Monday to Friday. The intriguing family story at Beli Vit registers more than 531 000 unique video views on btvplus.bg since February 1st.
Alongside the successful start of the entertainment shows, bTV news and current affairs programs expectedly gained the interest of the greatest number of viewers. The information leader and most trusted news source – bTV News at 7 pm – added more viewers last month – 1,228 mln. on average, and increased its share vs January to 47,6%. bTV newscasts at 5 pm and at noon attract more viewers in February than the central newscast of the second most watched channel. The central bTV Newscast is also the undisputed leader among the audiences aged 18-49 and 18-34.
In the top 15 of the February chart are also bTV Reporters, the current affairs show Face to Face with Tsvetanka Rizova, and the Sunday show 120 Minutes with Svetoslav Ivanov.
bTV This Morning with Anton Hekimyan is the only weekday morning show in the top 50 programs chart attracting 46% of all in front of the TV screen. In comparison, Nova’s Hello Bulgaria gathered 19% of the viewers at this time, and BNT’s The Day Began – 12%.
bTV keeps the tendency to increase the interest in its news content at the beginning of March as well, when the most watched newscast reaches more than 1,3 million viewers.
The wide audience keeps choosing bTV also on official holidays. The special studio on the occasion of March 3rd, hosted by Anton Hekimyan on Saturday morning, attracted nearly 700 000 people, or 41% of all viewers. At the same time Nova is watched by 177 000 viewers.
Among the most watched local bTV programs in February are also Paparazzi, Slavi Show, Karbovski: Second Plan, Marmalade, The Unknown, Wanted and Before Noon.
In February bTV Action entered the top 50 chart with the UEFA Champions’ League game Real Madrid – PSG.
